If you're a local (Bloomington, IN) or regional (Midwest US) garment designer or are interested in subcultural fashion/DIY, this event has your name written all over it! Axis of Evil is seeking fashion designers to showcase their designs in the Control+Alteration+Delineation fashion show in Bloomington, IN. The fashion show is scheduled for February 27th, 2007, 9PM-2AM. The modus operandi of the event is a ‘soft reset’ of alternative/subculture aesthetic through manipulation of the old-school do-it-yourself mentality and integration of the brand-new and cutting edge. Fashion Designer Call Details: All designers are welcome to submit designs for the Control+Alteration+Delineation fashion show. Submitted fashion designs must relate to the theme of the darker subcultures (this includes but is not limited to goth, industrial, cyber, punk, dark street fashion, et cetera). NOTE: All designs must be of PG 13 rating. Submitted fashion designs are juried (peer reviewed) by a panel, comprised of industry and academic professionals. A one time jury fee of $20 is due with your submission by December 20, 2006 (check or Paypal accepted) Designs accepted into the Control+Alteration+Delineation fashion show are evaluated according to the following criteria: 1. designs relate to subculture and the DIY aesthetic 2. originality/ creativity/ innovation 3. quality of designs (i.e., cohesive, construction, and engagement) Accepted fashion designs will be included in the Control+Alteration+Delineation fashion show, the evening of February 27, 2007, in Bloomington, IN. Designers are also required to submit by email a 150-word statement describing their design, work, aesthetic, and/or model no later than February 1, 2007. This text will be featured in the print program and on the Axis of Evil website. Accepted fashion designers are expected to secure their own models, stylists, and make-up/ hair persons. Designers are allowed one assistant backstage during the fashion show. The jury also selects and presents three awards to exceptional designs shown in the Control+Alteration+Delineation fashion show, based on the following categories: 1. Best Interpretation of Theme 2. Creativity/ Innovation/ Originality 3. Best Technical/ Construction Details 4. Best in Show Fashion show designers also have an opportunity to market (and sell) designs during/after the fashion show. A small vending fee of $10 is required upon acceptance to the show. Submission Deadline: December 20, 2006. Accept/Decline notification by: December 27, 2006.
